June started with our usual spot on the fabulous Kings Rd market which was a beautiful hot day. The successful market run by Sussex Concepts continues to provide a space for local traders and charitable organisations to meet up with the local community.
A last minute booking for the Woodlands festival meant that our next weekend was to be our first double booking, with one crew working at Woodlands family festival and another at Little Gate Big Festival supporting the great work by Little Gate Farm with helping neurodiverse individuals acquire job skills. Despite the challenges of 40mph winds both festivals were a great success and we look forward to returning sometime in the future.
The third weekend of June saw us venture further afield to Worthing for the Children's Parade, unfortunately the weather was not on our side and the torrential downpour soon put a stop to any passing trade.
During the week that followed we popped into the first night of OPEN the new community café on Grand Parade being run by Hastings and Rother Refugees and their Buddies, where we supplied the liquid refreshments in the form of tasty mocktails whilst enjoying the delicious Syrian pastries and taking in the fabulous photo exhibition by Andrew Grainger of the buddies and their families taking in the local sights. The project is the baby of Rossana Leal who came to Britain as a refugee from the Pinochet regime in Chile, she won the Woman on the Move Award in March of this year for her work with the project. The fourth weekend of June saw another PAVE collaboration in Butlers Gap/the Chess Square on George St and a last minute booking at Festival by the Lake on Sunday 23rd in aid of Hastings Supports Refugees. The event was well organised in the beautiful grounds of Ashburnham Place with some fabulous music and we were delighted to be part of it all. More information about the organisation can be found at:
The month ended with the St Leonards Festival Market where we put together a special cocktail menu with a home-grown or foraged theme. the weather was fabulous and we had a lot of fun with our first public mixology outing.
